This week, we come back to our ESG Development Heatmaps updates, focusing this time on Telcos & Media and Transportation. As we have always done, we focused only on (1) companies listed on the Mexican stock exchanges and (2) the materials publicly disclosed by those companies.

Transportation

What can we learn from these heatmaps?
There were few changes in the Telcos & Media sector this year, mainly driven by Megacable’s efforts to improve its sustainability strategy and reporting. The company established a dedicated team, adopted reporting under GRI and SASB standards, and aligned with the SDGs.
- TV Azteca is no longer a signatory of the UN Global Compact.
- In the Transportation sector, we saw more progress.
- ASUR, GAP, Grupo México Transportes, OMA, and Traxión updated their materiality analyses.
- OMA identified KPIs for all its material topics and set targets accordingly. Additionally, it aligned with CDP and became a signatory of the UN Global Compact.
- ASUR, in addition to updating its materiality analysis, aligned with TCFD and Science Based Targets.
- Aeroméxico and Volaris externally verified their sustainability reports.
The Telcos & Media sector has lagged behind due to limited action from companies that have yet to implement a formal sustainability strategy. In contrast, the Transportation sector has made significant progress in adopting best practices and enhancing transparency in sustainable topics. We hope there are further improvements in 2025, particularly among the lagging companies, potentially driven by the incorporation of ISSB disclosure standards into the Circular Única de Emisoras (CUE).
I hope you found this interesting. As usual, if there is anything we can help you with, or if there is an ESG topic you would like to know more about, please let us know.
