This week, we come back to our ESG Development Heatmaps updates, focusing this time on Mexican Materials companies. As we have always done, we focused only on (1) companies listed on the Mexican stock exchanges and (2) the materials publicly disclosed by those companies.
Materials

What can we read from this heatmap?
- Cemex remains the only company in the sector with a fully green heatmap.
- Vitro became a signatory of the UN Global Compact in 2024.
- Five companies still do not publish sustainability or integrated annual reports.
- Convertidora Industriales stopped sharing information on its corporate governance practices.
- Grupo Collado no longer has a dedicated investor relations page. Its information is only accessible on the BMV website and is quite limited.
- Alpek, Cemex, Cydsa, Pochteca, Tenaris, Vitro, and GCC updated their materiality analyses in 2023.
The Materials sector holds significant potential to positively impact sustainability due to the nature of its operations. By adopting clean and efficient technologies, these companies can minimize the use of natural resources and reduce pollutant emissions.
This reporting cycle saw minimal changes among companies in this industry. However, we hope to see more progress in the coming year, as there remain clear areas for improvement.
I hope you found this interesting. As usual, if there is anything we can help you with, or if there is an ESG topic you would like to know more about, please let us know.
