This week, we continued to delve into our ESG Development Heatmaps updates, this time focusing on the Materials sector. As we have done previously, we have only focused on (1) companies listed on local stock exchanges, the BMV and BIVA, and (2) the materials publicly disclosed by those companies.
Materials

What can we read from this heatmap?
- Cemex is now the first company in this sector to have a perfect score, having publicly disclosed its KPIs and goals for all material topics.
- Lamosa reported under GRI and SASB standards for the first time. It also identified additional KPIs for its material topics, coupled with KPI goals to achieve.
- GCC announced that during 2022 it started working to launch its first Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosure (TCFD) assessment in 2023.
- Vitro has yet to update its 2019 materiality analysis.
There was little progress in the Materials sector during 2022, which was somewhat expected after its impressive improvement last year. There are still several companies that remain very weak in terms of their ESG strategy and communication.
I hope you found this interesting. As usual, if there is anything we can help you with, or if there is an ESG topic you would like to know more about, please let us know.
